Pheasant
safari
Pheasant
safari in the open fields of Lumijoki is an adventure
even for an experienced hunter. Your hosts together
with the keen spinones Venla and Viivi will guarantee
the success of your safari at the Ylilauri farm. The
hunters get the instructions for the hunt, and the game
and gun licenses of those carrying a gun are checked
in a cosy hunting lodge in the farmyard. Then, the safari
proceeds to a field nearby where pheasants have been
introduced in good time to live in the wild. The leader
of the hunt blows the hunting horn, and the hunt can
begin. The hunting area is an open field, around 150
hectares, granted to us by the Hunting Club of Lumijoki.

Timber feller's small logging
Traditional
timber feller's gear and the timber fellers Ukkoherra
and the site supervisors in an authentic environment
in Palosaari create a genuine atmosphere. Palosaari

with respect to the original style. The logging starts
with an introduction to logging life and the visitors
dress with traditional logging gear. After, the timber
fellers walk or ski to the logging site. Experienced
site supervisors manage the logging. The trees to be
felled are marked. The frame saw sings when the logs
are being felled. The logs are barked by hand using
a barking knife. Ukkoherra supervises the work and makes
sure that the work gets done and that the quality is
good. In between the work, we the timber fellers have
lunch with coffee made on open fire. Lunch is the treat
of a timber feller. After the hard work has been finished,
the timber fellers sit down to have a drink. All saw
their own souvenir disc, and the mark of the logging
event will be burned on it.
